We love star gazing in the winter sky. The cold, crisp air makes the star seem brighter and there are so many of them. It makes us feel closer and more connected to the universe.

I just LOVE Kati–she is so sweet. And we don’t often think of butterflies as a species in danger, so I am glad she is speaking up for her butterfly kin.

I love everything about winter. i love looking out my window at icicles hanging off the shed. I love strapping on my cross-country skis and wandering around in the woods where it is quiet except for the sound of chickadees and crunching snow. I love how cute my boys look bundled up in their snow suits and hardly able to walk. I love sitting in hot springs next to a river coated in ice. I could go on, but you get the point. It is a time of reflection, but also invigoration.

Your dolls are lovely and your blog so inspiring!

I “ran away” from a big city two years ago with my husband and my 2 (now 3) kids. We wanted to raise them in a different way, we wanted them to grow up in a more natural environment. We now live in the countryside and we go out every day, with any weather. Being outside is special for me because I grew up in a big city and, as a child, I spent a lot of time inside. I love watching my kids running free in the fields, playing with earth and mud, getting dirty, being so happy!

Being outside in the winter time is special to me because I get to spend time with my kids, building snowman, sledding, and having a good ‘ole’ fashioned snowball fight. When we finish we always go inside for a nice warm cup of hot chocolate. You have to take any and all opportunities teach them about the outdoors and enjoy nature.

Marghanita, we LOVE being outside in Winter! Whilst its not as cold in our part of the world, we adore: watching our breath go all “foggy” on cold mornings, sliding along the grass on frosty mornings, sketching the outlines of “skeleton” trees, rugging up (we don’t often get to do that either!), lighting bonfires and toasting marshmallows, listening to the rain on the roof at night, catching rain drops on your tongue, jumping in enormous puddles, listening to the frantic toots of Sydney’s ferries hopelessly lost on foggy mornings, having the courage to stand under a tree and give it a push to release all the captive raindrops (umbrella recommended!). I know Grace would just adore to give Kati a Sydney home. much love. xx
