Chloe is super excited that Spring is almost here- she will be planting her favorite seeds very soon but not just yet….stay tuned!

Spring Break Garden Fun

Jas-and-Chloe-in-garden-2

Chloe thought she would share the delights of  natural play structures and treasures you can collect from nature for your very own garden.

Chloe and all her Little Humbug friends have endless amounts of fun playing in the Forest, hunting for treasure, climbing trees, balancing on fallen logs, jumping and flying off boulders.

Fallen trees become balancing Beams

Fallen-log-2

This log is a favorite in our garden

Logs and boulders make excellent balance beams and obstacle courses for a large garden.

These are great natural materials for climbing, jumping and acrobatics. Not everyone has the space  for boulders and fallen logs in their garden, however, even the smallest of gardens can accommodate a few piles of treasure collected from nature.

Sticks and stones, Pebbles and Cones- become sculptures and buildings

A tree stump makes an ideal table for little ones

Objects from nature offer more diversity in shape, texture and visual appeal than in any collection of store toys.

Sam-and-rocks

Make piles in various areas of the garden to be raided as needed. Chloe made a collection of stones, sticks, cones, nuts and shells.

Let their imaginations run wild…

Sticks, foliage and pine needles  become shelters for Butterfly Girls and other little visitors to your garden

Part of the fun is hunting for nature’s toys: Watch Let’s Go Outside video: Hunt for Pine Cones

Swing into Spring

Jas-and-Chloe-in-garden

Dragonfly Boy loves to RECYCLE and found this old tire on one of his visits to the city when all the Human children were fast asleep. Chloe and Dragonfly Boy will show you how to make one of these cool recycled tire swings later in the series.

So this Spring Break-create some natural play structures in your garden- for happier, healthier children.

Disclaimer: Please respect nature-do not remove objects from nature without asking permission first.Do not pick wildflowers, do not remove bark from trees.

What a fun backyard! This reminds me of our backyard in Yosemite. You’ve inspired me to bring a little of that feeling into our own yard. Thank you!

How lovely you had a backyard full of natural play structures when you were a child. You must share with us your little additions you make to your own yard. Enjoy your weekend and your garden!

Love, love, love this post. I’m a huge fan of natural play things over plastic toys.

I think if all my boys had were rocks and sticks, they’d be happy. Good idea to bring a log into the yard. We don’t have much space, but we could fit a small one.

This is adorable. I love the dolls.

I have no yard so I’ll have to envy the garden (sigh), but it does look lovely.
