The Little Humbugs would like to wish you all a very Happy Green Halloween.

1. Go on a Pumpkin Hunt. Buy from your local farmer.
Great family fun – Kids love to choose their very own pumpkin.

2. Dry the pumpkin seeds and make them into necklaces.
3. Compost all left overs but leave any spare seeds for the birds.

Kids love to use their imagination-let them carve their own creations.
4. Make your own costumes
It’s so much more fun than buying a costume….
ZORRO
We made the Zorro mask from an old black t-shirt sleeve. The Black cape was made with end of line material. We recycled some old buttons for the top fastening.
This cape has been reused so many times. A great addition to the dressing up box.

SCARY CLOWN
The clowns wig was made from left over material that was used to make a Highland Cow costume (my first book character Toffee the Highland Cow). Sam also fashioned a stick which he painted black and attached a white ping-pong ball to the top using tape. He then drew a skull face on the ball using a permanent marker.
Another Favorite Costume….

Sam’s Knight costume was so easy to make. I used a large piece of red felt and cut a circle in the middle for his head to fit through. I found some wonderful material that looked like chain mail and added a collar to the neck. Sam chose the Lion Heart, printed it off from the internet and we stitched it on. Not wanting to make a complete new top to go under his tunic, I used an old sweatshirt and stitched the chain mail material directly onto the sweatshirt. And to finish his look Sam made a cardboard shield, sword and helmet with help from his father.
Have Fun Greening your Halloween!
