Take your child to work day Wed 4th Nov

I was very fortunate to have my daughter help me in the studio a few weeks ago.

Amongst other duties, Jasmine helped me on a conservation piece .  She was looking through the photographs and spotted the Orcas.

Oh mum, they are so beautiful, can I write a short piece about the Orca’s? she asked.

Absolultely!

The Orcas

Through the deep blue ocean the stunning Orcas swim.

The distinctive white patches  jump out against their silky smooth black skin.

Their tails so powerful- let them leap effortlessly into the sky creating a stunning arc.

Water droplets race down their backs, sparkling like little jewels in the glowing sun.

They sing out their touching calls – with smiles on their faces. They are truly captivating.

Orca’s Need Our Help

Killer whales face many serious threats throughout their habitat on the west coast such as declining salmon stocks, increased boat traffic, toxic contamination, and acoustic impacts from dredging, seismic testing and military sonar.

Jasmine and I had lots of fun in the studio that day, we learned together, shared sadness and laughter and got creative.

We both agreed there should be more “take your child to work days“!

Nice piece, Jasmine! I think Orcas are captivating, too. :)
