Nature Based Crafts – Flowers All Year Round

We love to have flowers all year round. Here is a simple nature based craft for any age group.

Scavenging for the sticks and twigs is all part of the fun, even in the snow.

A Rose for a loved one. (A perfect Valentines Day gift).

In my nature classes, I love to introduce new ways of learning the colours of the rainbow.

………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………….

What you will need:

  • Tissue paper
  • A small branch/twig
  • Scissors, glue and paint
  • Twine or wire

How to make your paper flower:

  • Head outdoors and hunt for a selection of small sticks/twigs.
  • Paint the stick a stem colour (you can choose to leave the stick bare).
  • Cut out 2 circles out of the tissue paper (you could use a saucer to draw around).
  • Add glue to the top end of your stem. Now take your 2 circles of paper and twist around the glued area to make the flower shape. (To make the Poppy just add a smaller circle of black tissue paper and place on top of the red paper).
  • I like to add a little twine or wire to keep the flower head in place but for tiny little hands, the glue is an easier option.

Hope this inspires you to make a few colourful flowers. A wonderful reminder of what delightful treats lie ahead. The very thought of Spring, makes my heart sing. I can’t wait to look out my seeds from last years harvest and start planting.

What seeds will you be planting this Spring?
