Sam loves to draw. This afternoon he wanted to draw a plan view of the back garden.
So I got the ladder and we climbed up onto the roof. (This is obviously not an activity to do with younger children!)

Sam loved being up high. Much higher than his tree deck.

What a great perspective.

Sam took lot’s of photographs so that he could use them as a reference.

Raspberry patch, potato patch and dog pen (yes we trained Prince to poop in his poop pen).

Hubby and Prince looked so small.

Once Sam had finished taking his photographs we decided to stay on the roof a bit longer.
These times together are special. After school, if Sam’s not with friends, I get to share an hour with him before his sister and brother get home.
Sam explored while I watched to make sure he didn’t go too close to the edge.

I really enjoyed our time on the roof. I wonder how his drawing will turn out.
What do you do with your child when school is out?

We walk home from school together. It’s only about 10 minutes, but it’s precious time for me. I love hearing about my son’s day, or whatever else he might feel like discussing. Sometimes we just stare at the clouds or watch our shadows walk in front of us. During these moments, I feel like the luckiest person on the planet.
Oh Deb, I couldn’t agree more, they are such special times. I try to grab every free moment I can with my children, they are growing up so fast and I know their time with me and my husband is so short.
really cool idea, i have to wait for climbing on a roof with my young girls, but now we are searching everywhere for small climbing trees. lovely greetings from tirolean mountains ori*
How lovely to hear from you Orisha. I hope your little girls have lot’s of fun climbing trees. The Tirolean Mountains look beautiful.
