Orange Moon and the Grandmother Tree
“This story eloquently expresses the healing potential of seeking out nature and noticing how infinitely connected we all are to each other and everything on our world. This book is a treasure, a keeper, and one that will enrich a very young child as a picture book and last right through the school age years!
The story can enrich our adult lives too, as Orange Moon encourages all of us to open our hearts, to notice the beauty and healing potential within nature! There is a lifetime of wisdom to discover within this story, to grow with your child and within us adults too.” – Sherry Vaile Robinson

Say hello to Orange Moon who, with a full heart and the magic of nature at her fingertips, is always on the lookout for her next great outdoor adventure.
Summer has finally arrived and the meadow flowers are calling. Orange Moon hurries out for a day of play when a mysterious woman and an enchanted pendant lead her to an old man filled with heartache. Through the magic of love and her special connection with the Grandmother Tree, Orange Moon sets out on an adventure to heal the spirit of her new-found friend.
Nature Cultivates Gratitude
Sunbeams kissed her face as she danced her way through the wildflowers, leaving pathways of swaying rainbows that seemed to flow from her long brown hair. As she continued to dance through the meadow, Ellouise thanked the flowers for their beautiful colours, for their lovely fragrances and for filling her heart with so much happiness.
Wonder is the source of all spiritual growth
After some time, Orange Moon settled down amongst the Echinacea flowers, and gazed in wonderment at their beauty.
Nature Nurtures Creativity
I have incorporated several nature based crafts relating to the story. This is a wonderful way to actively engage children with nature and nurture their creative intelligence.
A book series based upon a child’s wonder of the Natural World. A magical reminder of the power of love and innocence. Ellouise, known to her family and animal friends as Orange Moon, gifts her love everywhere she goes. A book series inspiring play, love and friendship. Rich hues of orange-red with a hint of umber contrast with brilliant wildflowers of summer, to set the stage for a vibrant story that warmed my heart and imagination!
At bedtime I sat down to read Orange Moon and the Grandmother Tree.
Elloise, otherwise known as Orange Moon loves to play outside anytime of the year, but especially summer. Reading the story aloud to myself brought to life the healing power of love.
Orange Moon (Elloise) shares her love and joy with a new friend. She has experienced grief and empathizes easily with the loss her friend feels. So Orange Moon shares what she compassionately believes to be true and gratefully celebrates this with her Grandmother Tree and her new friend too.
Gently Orange Moon models how to open our hearts warmly with love to discover more about nature, our relationships and our selves.
I noticed myself pausing to gaze at the beautiful pictures. As I reflected, they reminded me of my own childhood innocence spent in natural spaces relaxing and playing during timeless days.
I realized the power of these beautiful pictures can invite a young child also to pause and gaze at the nature surrounding Orange Moon. The pictures can invite the readers to talk and warmly open our own hearts to share just like Orange Moon.

So lovely and valuable to spend time in Nature in a world of tablets, video games, and stuffing both food and feelings.
Really love the way you bring nature and education together. That’s how I was as a young girl growing up. I’m wondering how I can do this with older students at primary school 6_12 years old. Could you suggest me in any lessons for this age group. Thanks
