My New Creative Space… well, until snow falls!
Being a children’s author and illustrator, I need a tranquil space in order to be creative. From early Spring to late Fall/Autumn, weather permitting, I can usually be found sketching and writing outside on the picnic bench or the outdoor dining table.
However lately, thanks to my youngest son, Samuel, I have a new creative space.
The Tree Deck

My new found space is literally a tree, well, a Tree Deck but you feel like your part of the tree.
When climbing up to the deck, I feel like a kid again-I’m transported back to my childhood-climbing the white barked Silver Birch in my back garden, reaching for my favorite branch to sit on and disappear into my own imaginary world.
On the Tree deck – being this close to nature is so inspirational.
I should point out this tree deck started out as a project for my son who wanted a tree house. (check out my previous posting-building the tree house)

This tree house never quite got finished, we all agreed it was so incredibly beautiful sitting on the tree deck without any bars and sides interrupting the spectacular view. we decided to leave it as it was.
Nature for all the Family
Not only is it my creative space when the kids are at school, it’s also a place for all the family to relax and share stories, picnics and enjoy mother nature.

After a stressful day at school, Sam and I can disappear up to the tree deck and be in our own world. We’ll discuss his day over a snack, have a laugh spying on neighbors, listen to the crickets clicking their legs as they fly by or sit quiet, peacefully enjoying the magical view.
Sam may eventually want to have it finished into his own secret tree house, where he and his friends can pretend to be explorers discovering new lands or observe the animal footprints left in the snow. After all, a tree house would be cozier when winter arrives!
For now though, he is kindly sharing it with me and the wildlife.

But what if….
What if Sam does decide he wants his tree house finished.
I will need an alternative space…
Something that is eco friendly, not too expensive, will fit in with the natural setting, cozy, functional and fun.
Got It!
But you’ll have to wait for my next post to find out what my Winter Creative Space could be!

Creativity begs to be nurtured! Thank you for sharing your beautiful, nurturing space. Can’t wait to see what the Winter will bring!
How did I not know you have a blog too? I want to hang out on your tree deck. What a great quiet space.
